POLICE ABSTRACT

“In the event that you lose your SIM card, answer to the closest police headquarters as quickly as time permits and get a dynamic; don’t permit an outsider to utilize your SIM card. On the off chance that an outsider is in trouble and needs support, decide yourself,” read the notice.

Defaulters will either be sentenced to 7 months in jail or a fine of Sh100,000 or both.

The new guidelines are the recommendadtions of a team that President Uhuru Kenyatta framed in October 2013 in the wake of the Westgate shopping center psychological militant assault that left 73 dead and 240 others harmed.

The team contained delegates from the ICT service, the Communication Authority and the four portable telecom administrators Safaricom, Airtel, Orange and yuMobile.

Police had said that the fear mongers who assaulted the Westgate shopping center may have utilized unregistered SIM cards to speak with their colleagues, a move that incited the summoning and flame broiling of the four CEOs.
